Dunno if anyone following is really all that interested years later lol but even though I had to quit work on _CRUSH_ and comics altogether because of financial struggles and time restrictions with them, I am still a very active creator in terms of art and music and stuff since it's easier to manage, so if you're interested feel free to check out any of that stuff from any of the accounts linked on my link tree here, and if you do follow any of them or like my stand-alone art, animations, music or other works, thank you very much in advance! <3 https://linktr.ee/jaeharuart
_CRUSH_ needs your help! If you're a fan and want to help, please consider joining the Patreon! https://patreon.com/JaeHaruka Every pledge helps keep this comic going!
This virus shit's scary. Stay safe, everyone.
I just finished setting up my Twitch page since I want to start streaming occasionally. I don't plan to be streaming any content for the comic _CRUSH_ or any BL since it's more to promote the pinup/less bl friendly half of my market that commissions and buys the pinup stuff from me (since it just does better than _CRUSH_ does, sadly : /). Still, if there's anyone who's interested in THAT kind of art and wants to see me painting sometimes, you're more than welcome to follow. No idea when I'll start streaming atm though. But the landing page is done at least. https://www.twitch.tv/jaeharu
I’m going to go on a bit of an art rant which is very uncommon for me but I see time and again, so many people, some artists themselves (of a lower level) giving people shit or ragging on other artists for having used photo references for a piece, or having done a photo study. And every time I see it it’s so gross and disheartening. I really don't understand all the art nazi's that do this. How do you think art was done originally? You look at things. And you draw them. Using references is what helps you learn. Being able to emulate life with photo study renditions is just as important as understanding the fundamentals enough to build something from just them? You need things to look at to study from and learn from. A photograph as the source of reference is no less than a still life. And not only does doing photo studies like these help you understand the form, the light, the shadow, the color relationships, that are an essential part of art, but it also helps you understand how to use the software to render the results you want in the process. The stigma and discredit around using references or doing photo studies, in general, is a really ridiculous concept to have if you ever want to improve your own art. These are important and vital steps to learning and understanding. Even professionals in the industry use reference time and again. The world is a complex and intricate place with countless relationships going on (in terms of light, color, form, et cetera). It's impossible to know everything about everything at any given time in terms of art and it shouldn't be expected of artists to. There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing photo studies or doing work based off of reference when you're learning. The only time it becomes wrong, is if you no longer learn from it. And the people that don’t realize this, and accept this, are never going to improve to a level where their “just tracing” comments will hold any weight. If they made the same attempt to learn and move
Happy Holidays everyone! Regardless of what you celebrate or don't I hope you have a great rest of December ^_^
Random question and doubt anyone will know, but any of you have any idea what to do about a wild chicken? One showed up in my front yard ... No one knows anything about it or is looking for it. I contacted our vet to ask what to do about it so it can be collected and safe and stuff but won't hear back until the morning... also, I love animals so no jokes about killing or eating it, thanks. Just like... who to contact maybe or what to like... do with it...
Here's the speed paint vid for the Lan Zhan piece for anyone interested: https://youtu.be/187mr3rRihY didn't have it up 'till rn so didn't post it with it. Gonna go back in and link it. : x
I see this on exit surveys a lot now and I think it really needs to be understood that unlike other Pateron creators and accounts out there that bring in enough money and support to work on it and update in place of a job, mine does not. It needs to have more CONTINUED support for that to happen and be a thing that pays my bills and allows me to quit my real job to focus on it for that to happen. As it stands it updates once a month and that's realistically the best I can do and keep my real full time job and place. It won't get there if people don't realize it's not there yet and won't stick with it because of that or if they sign up expecting something that isn't realistically possible. As a creator it gets really frustrating seeing exit surveys that say I don't do enough or expect the impossible when I literally have struggled to get enough ongoing support for years and to work on the comic and work full-time at the same time. If the goal on Patreon is ever met, that's when I'll be able to be as active as creators that do and CAN do it as their job but only then.
This is just a heads up for anyone who has their own stuff up on Webtoons but apparently nowadays if anything gets flagged they just remove it without bothering to review it first and never tell you. So yeah, keep an eye on your stuff I guess and try not to piss anyone off? * I was wrong. Webtoons has just become incredibly strict with their policy. Rip.
