Case 001 - 18

This page has gone through the most revisions of anything I've ever written--and for good reason, because the initial draft written two or three years ago came off EXTREMELY transphobic, which was absolutely not my intent.
In case the dialogue doesn't make it clear, Phranc is a cis man (biologically male and identifies as male), but his species accidentally misgendered the human race when studying Earth culture and adopted American "feminine" stereotypes as Zedzenine "masculine" stereotypes. Ted is perhaps a little uncomfortable with the combination of Phranc's gender and his physical appearance (Ted's been very sheltered), but is mostly upset at having been called a girl.
If any of this is unclear, or if this scene still comes across as transphobic, please let me know what I can change to improve it. The "point" of Phranc has always been to critique gender roles and expectations (challenging the audience not to assume someone's gender based on their clothing or their personal ideas of what gender "should" be), not to "make the audience laugh at the 'absurdity' of a 'man' dressing as a 'woman' ". If you have feedback for me on this point but don't have a Tapastic account/would rather not go through Tapastic, I can be emailed at rachel_ordway@yahoo.com or contacted (anonymously, even) at crackpotcomics.tumblr.com/ask .
